Outlook data files are stored in .ost and .pst file formats but user cannot import any OST file in Outlook 2019, 2016 etc. Whereas .pst file is easily opened in any Windows Outlook. To convert .ost file to .pst file format, user can also use manual method. Read here: What is the difference between OST and PST?

Note 1: Before following the manual process, make sure that your OST file is not corrupted otherwise you may lose your data.

Note 2: We do not support any manual method so follow the below steps at your own risk.

Manual Method for .ost to .pst Conversion

  • Open your MS Outlook and click on File tab and then go to Open & Export option.
  • Select Import/Export Tool option, a dialog box will pop-up.
  • Select "Export to File" from the list and click "Next"
  • Now again click on Outlook Data File (.pst) from the list and click on “Next” button.
  • Select the folder you want to export and check the Subfolder option and then press Next.
  • Save the destination for the .pst file and enable "Allow Duplicates" and then click "Finish Program".
  • A dialog box will pop up asking you to add the password. This is an optional option so you can skip this step and click on OK button directly.

Once the job is done, your .pst file can be received at your destination point.

Note 3: It does not guarantee data security and even that is always prone to errors. Additionally, the native method is not a successful way to export a corrupted OST to PST file.
